Yaupon Holly Blooms
Yaupon Holly Blooms
Yaupon Holly is one of our plant medicines in the Chickasaw Tribe and is used among other southeastern tribes as well. Their blooms are light, tiny and delicate. Yaupon fruit is typically bright red and the leaves become a dark green with age. Yaupon is toxic to humans when consumed raw and the fruit is not to be consumed. The leaves are traditionally steeped into a tea. Yaupon tea is not only rich in antioxidants but also among the few plants native to the United States that contain caffeine. These earrings represent our plant medicine and our relationship with the world around us. Beaded with Czech Preciosa Glass 11/0 seed beads in colors light chartreuse, white and yellow. Backed with genuine buckskin leather, stainless steel earring studs with simple stud backings. Made to order style. 0.6 inch total size. Beaded by Chickasaw Citizen Anna Kemp, Indian Territory.
