Indigenous Representation in the Fashion Industry is an everblooming sector, that I am overjoyed to state Oh Kíyo! Is apart of. More and more I see Indigenous artists across the continents pursuing their dreams of creating art and sharing it with the world. Growing up I had limited access to my Chickasaw heritage due to intergenerational trauma and assimilation. As a mixed heritage Chickasaw/Choctaw artist, being able to share stories through wearable art has been healing that I thank Aba’binili for every day. Revitalization of traditional techniques and incorporating new ones has brought on an Indigenous Renaissance.
